Turning Changes into Habits

Friday Food For Thought....

Tony Robbins famously said "For changes to be of any true value, they've got to be lasting and consistent." Do you agree with this? When you make a change, what actions do you take to sustain the change?

A technique that works for me is translating the change into behaviors and then taking steps each day to make the change a habit. One thing I've been doing recently is learning a new language, using an app on my phone. I get reminders each day to complete my lessons and I now have a streak of more than 400 straight days of practice. This is working because I made it a priority and it isn't that hard to block out 10-15 minutes a day to do this. Another example would be if you wanted to increase your exercise. You might start by setting a goal for the number of steps you take and then tracking these steps each day.
