The Power of a Network

Connections are essential personally and professionally. My husband, Roberto, has lived outside his home country of Brazil for more than 20 years but he always maintained a connection with his old friends and extended family. He stayed in touch on social media and made it a point to reach out to folks whenever he planned to be in town.

Since we moved to Brazil, his connections have introduced Roberto to new business associates and potential customers. It has also helped us expand our circle of friends in Brazil. This happened to us last weekend when we were in Brasilia. Roberto’s friend encouraged him to connect with a friend of his. So, Roberto reached out to his friend’s connection, who invited us to hang out with him and his friends and we had a FANTASTIC time with everyone - good conversations, some laughs, and a very entertaining night at a nightclub in the warehouse district. In conversation, Roberto discovered that two of the guys lived in the same neighborhood as kids (and one of them lived in the same apartment building as Roberto’s family!).

It is wonderful to be able to reconnect with old friends and to make new ones - it makes our transition to life in Brazil MUCH easier as we adjust to a new culture.
