Recently, I've been reflecting about perfectionism. I, like many people, have held myself to high standards throughout my career. I remember a former boss telling me that when high standards turn the corner into perfectionism, it will become a problem. For me it was a tipping point into understanding the pitfalls of an overused strength.

As a first-time author, I didn't know what to expect when writing a book. I hit a major milestone in the project today and it made me reflect on what I've learned so far in this process. In this case, I am co-authoring a book with my friend and business partner, Javier Iglesias.

Your perceptions about VUCA or any significant change are influenced by your skill set, experience set, mindset and habit set (behaviors).

There is no doubt that the emergence of new mega tends as a result of the disruptions caused by a major global crisis like COVID-19, create drastic changes and make us stop and ask the question: Will we ever go back to business as usual, or will we see long lasting changes and its implications at the individual, community, organizational and government levels?

VUCA stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. When you have several or all of these factors present in a situation, you are facing VUCA. It feels like VUCA is everywhere these days with the speed of technology change, the social-political environment and the global pandemic. VUCA is here to stay so we need to be well-equipped to deal with it.
